Products & Facilities

Our world-class production facility comprises a condensate splitter, aromatics complex and associated facilities, including onsite storage, jetty and utilities. The plant, which utilises state-of-the-art technology, has a capacity to process 4.5 million tonnes per annum of condensate feedstock into aromatics and transportation fuels. By strategically locating in Singapore, which is situated at the crossroads between buyers in the Asian markets and feedstock suppliers in the Middle East and Australia, we can tap local and regional opportunities for future product offtake. Our strategic location on Jurong Island – Singapore’s petrochemical hub, also gives us access to a skilled workforce and efficient infrastructure and supporting facilities.

Aromatics

  • Our aromatics complex produces a total of 1.5 million tonnes per annum of paraxylene (800,000 tonnes per annum), benzene (438,000 tonnes per annum) and orthoxylene (200,000 tonnes per annum). The demand for these aromatics products, which are key raw materials used in a wide range of end applications, is steadily increasing, particularly in China and India.

  • Paraxylene is a key substitution for cotton and expensive synthetic fibers such as nylon and acrylic fibers, which are used in the production of textile and clothing. Paraxylene is also used in PET packaging which has replaced glass in the bottled drinks market.

    Orthoxylene is a raw material for the production of phthalic anhydride, which is primarily used as a plasticiser in the construction and automotive industries.

    Benzene has the widest range of product application, covering the construction, automotive, packaging and electronics sectors. It is processed into:

    i) Styrene which is used in food packaging, synthetic rubber and plastics;

    ii) Cyclohexane for the production of nylon;

    iii) Cumene/Phenol for the production of pharmaceuticals, phenolic resins which are commonly used in furniture, and polycarbonates which are often used in eyewear lenses and exterior automotive components; and

    iv) Alkylbenzene for the production of detergents.

     

Fuel Products

Our investment in a condensate splitter alongside the aromatics plant ensures a steady supply of heavy naphtha feedstock for our aromatics production, bringing about cost efficiencies in the procurement of this feedstock.

Besides heavy naphtha, our condensate processing also results in the production of 2.5 million tonnes per annum of high value oil products, including jet fuel, ultra low sulphur diesel, naphtha, LPG and fuel oil. The bulk of these fuel products, which are produced according to international standards, are targeted at the export markets.

Offsite facilities
Supporting our production are facilities including condensate and products storage, and a jetty that caters to vessels of different sizes. The jetty facilitates the transport of feedstock and products to and from the plant. JAC is the pioneer customer of the underground Jurong Rock Caverns storage.

Utilities and wastewater treatment
Outsourced to Sembcorp Industries, our utilities and waste water treatment consist of a water treatment system to produce demineralised water and boiler feed water, a steam generation and distribution system, a cooling water system, a fire water system, an effluent treatment system and other associated facilities.
